5 Things We Love This Week: Sour Patch Kids Opens a Giant New Store, Mom Calls out Kids in Viral TikTok Video + More!
By Kim HumphreyPosted Aug 14, 2020
Here's this week's round up of the coolest things for kids and families our team spotted this week.
1. Three Adorable Shark Week Recipes for Kids
Discovery Channel's uber popular annual week of shark programming is underway (can you believe this is the 32nd year?!). Food Network has gotten into the action with some cute shark-themed treats and snacks that are simple enough for the kiddos to help make. Check them out here (the Shark Bite Ice Cream Sundaes are our personal fave).
2. A Birthday Party Idea You'll Want to 'Adopt' (Once Things are Back to Normal)
We ran across this post on Facebook and OH MY GOSH, we're so in love with this idea! And with the huge upsurge in interest and awareness of pet adoption during the pandemic, we can't think of a more fitting birthday party theme. You could, of course, expand your theme to include kitties and other animals, too. A simple Pinterest search yielded all sorts of fun ideas - check them out HERE.
3. Sour Patch Kids Just Opened a Giant Store and Cafe in NYC
"Sour Sweet Smoothie," "Rainbow, Cakes & Shakes, Oh My!," "The Sour Sandwich," and "Pour Some Sugar on Us"
If you've visited New York City, chances are you've happened upon the giant M&M's World and Hershey's Chocolate World stores. Now there's something to give all this chocolate a run for its money! Enter the Sour Patch Kids Store. On the menu at the first-of-its kind Sour Patch Kids Sweets Bar are things like "Waffle-Licious" comprised of Sour Patch Kids ice cream on top of a waffle, floating on a cloud of sour cotton candy, topped with Sour Patch Kids Bitz, Sour Patch flavored drizzle, whipped cream, Sour Patch Kids Bark, mini raspberry chocolate cups, and a marshmallow Kid. I know, right?! Visitors can also create their own candy mix and shop a wide range of limited-edition merch.
4. Mom's Viral TikTok Shows How She'll Wreck her Kids' Future Houses
Tired of your kids stockpiling dishes in their rooms, stealing all of your phone chargers, and leaving their bathroom looking like a toothpaste bomb just went off? So was Angela Higinbotham (aka @angelalah325), so she decided to call them out on it in a TikTok video that can only be described as epic.
5. Face Masks Kids Will Want to Wear
Face masks are the new must-have accessory, and lucky for us, there are now so many cool designs out there that make wearing a mask fun. That's especially important for little ones who may not fully grasp the importance of wearing a mask and therefore be more reluctant to keep one on. That's why we love finds like Mask Club that have all sorts of fun masks for kids (and adults, too) with characters they love - from Paw Patrol and Sesame Street to Batman and JoJo Siwa and many more. And right now, you can stock up and save 20% off any five masks when you use promo code KIDZ.
